How to fix the EPC light on a Volkswagen

EPC is throttle/engine electronics, not an oil light. If power is cut, pull over. A cheap code reader is step one — clearing it without a repair is not a fix.

Electronic Power Control. Throttle body, pedal, boost, a sensor, sometimes a coil. If the car is in limp mode, do not ‘just drive it to work.’ Scan it. We diagnose on Nelson Ave; we don’t sell you a coil because a forum said so.

  • Steady EPC + normal drive: schedule soon.
  • EPC + flashing CEL + no power: stop, tow if you have to.
  • After a battery change: sometimes a throttle adaptation. That’s a scan-tool job, not a battery.
